Pick-up & Drop-off in the back

Dear Parents & Guardians of our students,                                                        November 10, 2011

Pick-up & drop-off for students has always been in the rear (north end) of the school.  Our parking lot is circular to facilitate an area to pull up where the child exits or enters the vehicle, and then leave.  The front (south end) of our school is not set up for heavy traffic at any time.  The parking is for staff, and the only drop-off is our Day Care vans.

I have been contacted by APS Risk Management as well as APS Police and instructed to remind all drivers of the school’s policy regarding transportation of children.

This is a safety issue, and in recent weeks, we have had more than one child almost struck by a vehicle.  I am asking all adults to please help us keep our entire population safe by using the designated area located in the north end of the school campus.

Sincerely,

Mr Maresca

APS is considering changing start and end times for schools next fall.
For 2010-11, we're looking at:
Elementary Schools
7:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.
and another
Elementary Schedule
8 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.
High Schools
8:35 a.m.-3:10 p.m.
Middle Schools
9:15 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
The times take into account legislation requiring 180 full days of instruction –
eliminating early-release Wednesdays – as well as coordinating bus schedules
and providing a later start for high school students.
There will be several public forums held in the next month or so.
These will be held in order to take comments from community members
and answer any questions they may have.
Public Forums will be held:
6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
date & location
March 23 - La Cueva -PAC
March 25 - Cibola-E Lecture Hall
April 6 - Highland-PAC
April 8 - West Mesa-PAC
