On Tuesday, September 23, the library was filled to capacity with 105 people who turned out for the Annual Parent Involvement meeting regarding Title I followed by a Family Poetry Reading night...

Ms. Shepard, our Title I teacher, discussed our Title I program along with Federal policies and the school’s obligations.   Jan Wittrup, retired Matheson Park libraian and her 2 grandchildren, Noah and Ivy Chacon (yes, Mrs. Chacon is their mom), presented a delightful program of poetry reading.  The library literally “came alive” with the sound of young voices reciting poems.  Following the program, everyone enjoyed cookies and drinks donated by Albertsons (Eastdale Shopping Center), Smiths(Central and Tramway), and the Owl Café. Thank you sooooo much for their generosity!!!  Many students also benefited from several door prizes and free books.   Our next literacy night is coming January 22, 2009, so please mark your calendars.  Students will be making their own special book to take home. Once again thank you to the Literacy Goal team and Title I for helping to make our parent involvement night so special.
